ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed by a Henry County Police Officer Tuesday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The GBI said the officer saw two teenagers in the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme on Highway 138 around 6:30 p.m. The second teenager was a 17-year-old boy. “The officer approached the teenagers and spoke with them briefly before giving verbal commands for the 17-year-old to take his hands out of his pockets. The 17-year-old then passed a handgun to the 16-year-old, and the 16-year-old ran away from the area with the gun,” the GBI said in a press release. The officer chased the 16-year-old and told him to drop the gun before the teenager was shot, investigators said. The two teenagers and the officer have not been identified. The GBI said the investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story. Return to Atlanta News First for updates.
